Germany and Nigeria are the first two confirmed semi-finalists at the FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup in India.

Omamuzo Edafe converted a first-half spot-kick for Nigeria, with Amalia Villareal’s leveller for the USA on 40 minutes proving to be the end of the scoring.

The 6,619 crowd were therefore given the drama of a shoot-out, with Edafe again successful from the spot as she netted the decider in a 4-3 victory.

Germany beat Brazil 2-0 in the second quarter-final on Friday, Marie Steiner giving them the lead midway through the first half, but it was not until deep into stoppage-time that Melina Kruger made sure of their progress.
