#FAWNL: Nottingham Forest Women move within four points of leaders

East Midands rivals, Nottingham Forest and Derby County, went second and third repectively in The FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division.

Nottingham Forest edged Middlesbrough with an own-goal to cut Sunderland’s lead, Derby County beat Burnley 1-0 with a Hannah Keryakoplis chip to go above them on goal-difference, Tiana Hicks’ early effort was added to by Rebecca Knight’s first-half brace as Loughborough Foxes saw off basement side Hull City 3-2.

Crawley Wasps got the only goal at Plymouth Argyle through Rachel Palmer to go level on points with Southern Premier leaders Watford, Cardiff City Ladies went third as Cori Williams hit a hat-trick in their 5-0 success at Gillingham. Cheryl Williams scored twice as Oxford United netted six at Keynsham Town, five of them coming after the interval. MK Dons defeated Chichester City 2-0 and Yeovil Town put eight past Hounslow.

Wolves went seven points clear in Division 1 Midlands with an important 2-0 result at promotion rivals Lincoln City. Second-placed Birmingham & West Mids had to settle for a 2-2 tie with TNS and Bedworth United climbed to third after a 3-2 result at Sporting Khalsa.

Amy Woodruff and Laura Bartup bagged a brace each as Barnsley won 4-0 at Newcastle United to extend their advantage at the top of Division 1 North to five points, with Leeds United in second held 1-1 at Liverpool Feds.

AFC Wimbledon are just one point short of Division 1 South East leaders Ipswich Town whom they sent to a first defeat. Leyton Orient and Enfield Town moved up to third and fourth respectively, while AFC Basildon won the goalfest at Norwich City 8-4.

Division 1 South West top team Southampton FC hit Chesham United 8-2 with seven different goalscorers, Southampton Women’s beat Brislington 2-1 to keep up the pace and Cheltenham Town rose to third after a 2-1 victory at Poole Town.
