Reading went fifth in the FAWSL with a single-goal success over Brighton & Hove Albion, in which Rachel Furness was on target.

Millie Farrow’s deflected effort was turned onto the bar by Marie Hourihan, but the Albion keeper could do little to stop Furness’s well-struck shot.

Kirsty Barton went closest to equalisng with a shot from distance that smacked against the crossbar.

Five in a row for Blades

Sheffield United’s 4-1 defeat of London Bees made it five wins in a row, a run in which Jade Pennock has scored on every occasion.

Danielle Cox headed in from a Rebecca Rayner free kick for an interval lead but Ruesha Littlejohn levelled 5 minutes after the restart.

However, just 2 minutes later Veatriki Sarri restored the advantage on a rebound for Ebony Salmon’s effort.

Rayner’s corner went straight in to make it 3-1 to the hosts and then Pennock rounded off the scoring.
