Both the FA Girls’ Cup and Plate holders have been beaten as Southampton accounted for Arsenal and Liverpool defeated Doncaster Rovers Belles.

Leeds United edged through to the Cup quarter-finals with a victory on sudden death penalties over Derby County.

Stoke City also won a shoot-out in the Plate after a 3-3 tie at Nottingham Forest.

Runners-up last season, Chelsea progressed with a 4-0 result over West Brom.

Liverpool eliminated Plate holders Doncaster with a goal apiece from Lucy Fazackerley, Annie Hutchings and Lucy Parry.

Manchester United stormed through with all nine goals of the game at York City.
