England Women’s U-23s were denied victory by the Netherlands in a European League match, conceding a stoppage-time equaliser.

Played at Banus Football Centre in Spain on Monday lunchtime, Netherlands goalkeeper Danielle de Jong made three early saves in quick succession.

She kept out a Kiera Skeels effort from an Aggie Beever-Jones corner, a Hannah Silcock header from a Missy Bo Kearns flag-kick and perhaps the best stop of all from Ruby Mace’s powerful follow up.

England finally found the back of the net in the 37th minute, Katie Robinson crossing and Silcock hitting the bottom corner.

Beever-Jones headed a Poppy Pattinson delivery against the crossbar in the latter stages, before Fenna Kalma grabbed a 93rd-minute leveller.

England WU23s next play at Burton Albion FC on Thursday 4 April at 7pm, against Sweden in another European League tie.
