Djeumfa to lead Indomitable Lionesses into #FIFAWWC2019

Alain Djeumfa has been appointed coach of Cameroon just over four months before the FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in France.

“I feel honoured with the appointment and I’m aware there is a daunting task ahead with the World Cup in France fast approaching,” Djeumfa told BBC Sport.

“We are starting work immediately and we need to have a great preparation ahead of the France event. We want to do better than in 2015 and we think we have what it takes to succeed.”

Cameroon, who reached the last 16 in 2015, qualified for the World Cup by finishing third in the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations – where Djeumfa was their fitness coach – and are grouped with Canada, Netherlands and New Zealand at France 2019.
