Crucial late goals in FA WNL Northern Premier title race

FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division leaders Nottingham Forest rescued a point at Rugby Borough, Burnley left it very late to win at Liverpool Feds.

It finished all square between the top two as Rugby drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest, Katy Morris’s fifth-minute goal eventually cancelled out by a Mollie Green penalty for the visitors with 13 minutes left.

Burnley and Wolves drew level on points with Borough, the Clarets winning at Liverpool Feds thanks to a stoppage-time effort from Brenna McPartlan, Wanderers 5-2 victors at Sporting Khalsa who had led until the visitors scored three times in an eight-minute spell.

Five goals also for West Brom against Stourbridge including a six-minute brace for Ellie May. Stoke won 4-2 at Derby after conceding first to move three points ahead of their hosts, Hull also went behind early on at Halifax but ended up 4-1 winners.

Hashtag United 3-0 Lewes (Att: 78)
Milton Keynes Dons 1-3 Oxford United

Hashtag defeated Lewes to remain top by three points helped by Holly Turner’s two goals in the space of four minutes.

Second-placed Ipswich hit hosts Billericay for six featuring a first-half hat-trick from Sophie Peskett.

Oxford climbed two places two third with a 3-1 result at MK Dons, the basement side having levelled the match at 1-1.

Sutton Coldfield Town 0-1 Northampton Town (Att: 74)
Solihull Moors 0-1 Worcester City (Att: 117)

Worcester’s first-ever win in the league came with Olivia Mitcham’s third-minute finish at Solihull. Amber Pearson’s free kick at Sutton Coldfield gave Northampton their sixth successive win.

Stockport edged second-placed Cheadle with an Emily Lysons goal on half-time, Chorley going level on points with the Stingers after victory at Fylde where a quick double put them in charge. Leeds won 3-1 over Doncaster despite being pegged back at 1-1, Middlesbrough were 3-0 up on 75 minutes before their match was halted due to a medical incident on the pitch.

Tamsin Medd-Gill gave Norwich a fifth-minute lead at Sudbury but Jess Allen levelled and the Canaries had Holly Kennard sent off with 13 minutes plus top play. Actonians are just goal-difference behind Norwich after thrashing Chesham, Hana Lalani contributing a hat-trick. Chatham defeated Dulwich to go above them and into third spot, Amelia Woodgate’s late goal sealing the win after Lucy Jones struck first. Real Bedford remained unbeaten with a goalless draw against Cambridge United. QPR came out on top in a seven-goal thriller with basement side Ashford Town, Grace Stanley notching a treble for Rangers after they trailed 3-1 at the break.

Worthing 4-2 Moneyfields (Att: 89)

Swindon made it seven wins in a row but were pushed all the way by Abingdon, until Libby Waylen came off the bench late on to net an 89th-minute decider. Worthing went sixth by beating third-placed Moneyfields as Tierney Scott got three of their four goals.
