Charlton Athletic have signed attacking midfielder Freya Godfrey on a season-long loan from Arsenal, with whom she recently secured her first professional contract.

The 18-year-old was at Ipswich Town in the FAWNL Southern Premier last season on a dual-registration, making her WSL debut in the 4-0 win over Brighton.

Godfrey is also an experienced youth international, having represented the Lionesses from U-14 level all the way through to the U-19s.

Godfrey told charltonafc.com“I’m buzzing, I can’t wait to get started.

“I’ve seen the way that [the team has] been developing throughout the years, getting better and better, and it’s just something I wanted to be a part of.”
