Celtic Women win at Glasgow City, Rangers leave it late against Hibs

ScottishPower Women’s Premier League leaders Rangers scored two late goals to beat Hibernian, Celtic moved three points ahead of third-placed Glasgow City.

Hibs led at Rangers through Jorian Baucom’s goal for almost an hour, before Rio Hardy’s 77th-minute equaliser, which was soon followed by the winner from Kathy Hill.

Celtic went two up through Caitlin Hayes and Natasha Flint, Glasgow City only replying late on with a Carlee Giammona volley, as the Hoops stayed within a point of the leaders but City fell four behind.

Hearts’s 3-0 victory at Partick Thistle put them three points ahead of fifth-placed Hibernian, as Danni Findlay’s opener was added to by a Kathleen McGovern double.

Motherwell moved within three points of seventh-placed Aberdeen after defeating them 3-0, Lauren Berry bagging a brace following Morgan Cross’s opening goal.

Montrose are nine points better of than basement side Hamilton Academical, having seen them off 2-1. Louise Brown’s goal was cancelled out by Chloe Muir but Aimee Ridgeway’s header won it in the penultimate minute.

Spartans put six points between themselves and next-to-bottom Dundee United, whom they beat 4-2. Louise Mason, Hannah Jordan and Mya Bates all netted before Robyn Smith replied for the hosts. Bates restored the three-goal cushion, Rachel Todd later getting United’s second.

Queen’s Park closed in on the SWPL 2 title, defeating Gartcairn 2-0 to stretch their lead to a massive 15 points with only 18 now available to their nearest rivals. Goals from Hannah Cunningham and Ami Robertson guaranteed the Spiders a top-two finish and at least a promotion play-off.

Second-placed Kilmarnock were held 1-1 at home by Livingston but still lead them by seven points in the bid for the runners-up spot. Ashley Elizabeth notched her 50th goal for Livingston but Abby Robinson replied for Killie.

St Johnstone got the only goal of the game at Stirling University with a Megan Burns header to go fourth, as Boroughmuir Thistle drew 0-0 at Glasgow Women who move a point clear of the bottom.
