Blackburn Rovers have signed young striker Chelsea Ferguson on loan from Barclays Women Super League side Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 18-year-old has been a regular with Brighton’s U-21 side, having joined Albion from Millwall in 2020 to play in their U-16s.

Ferguson made her first-team debut for Brighton against Arsenal, in the opening game of the 2022-23 campaign.

She also played in the WSL match with Spurs also in September of last year, remaining around the first-team squad throughout the season.

Seagulls head coach Melissa Phillips told brightonandhovealbion.com: “This is a great opportunity for Chelsea to stretch herself in an environment where she can compete for match minutes in a league as competitive as the Championship.

“It is important at this stage of her development that she has the platform to grow within matches and Blackburn provides an excellent setting for her to continue progressing. We wish her well and we’ll be monitoring her progress during the season.”
