Basingstoke and Portchester win Hampshire League Cup finals

AFC Portchester won the Hampshire County Women’s League Invitation Cup, Basingstoke Town clinched the Junior Cup on penalties.

It was a second trophy for Portchester despite only being formed in 2020, as the Division 2 title-chasers ran out 6-0 winners over Division 1 opponents Bursledon at Hampshire FA’s Winklebury Sports Complex.

Ella Wilson and Aimee Hall-Guy each bagged a brace for Portchester, Shannon Woods and Bella Longyear also finding the back of the net.

It was a second success of the season for Basingstoke, who were recently crowned Division 3 champions.

But they had to stage a comeback from two goals down to Division 4 winners Gosport Borough, eventually winning 3-2 on penalties.
