FC United of Manchester won a nine-goal thriller with Leeds United to boost their hopes of avoiding relegation from the FA Women’s National League.

Ellie Dobson twice gave fifth-placed Leeds the advantage but Shaunna Jein and Eve O’Carroll quickly replied. Katie Astle had the visitors in front for a third time, substitute Naomi Lawrence this time scored a swift leveller.

FC United led for the first time through Jein’s second goal of the night on 85 minutes, Sacha Lewis giving them a two-goal cushion before Alice Hughes got Leeds’ fourth in the 90th minute.

Although FC United are still bottom of Division 1 North with more games played than those above them, they are just two points behind tenth-placed Chester le Street Town.

Moneyfields went third in Division 1 South West with all three goals of the game at Southampton Women, who remain three points above the relegation zone. Kim Fuller, Kau’Inohea Taylor and Kiera Heslam were all on target for the visitors.
