Barclays FA WSL: Chelsea Women go four points clear

Chelsea went four points clear at the top of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League after a second win over Spurs in quick succession.

Shelina Zadorsky blocked a goal-bound Erin Cuthbert effort before Chelsea took a 19th-minute lead, Beth England heading home a Jonna Andersson cross.

Very much against the run of play, Spurs levelled on 44 minutes when Kerys Harrop headed home a Kyah Simon free kick.

Chelsea hit back instantly though, Pernille Harder with a great turn and delivery, Sam Kerr with the header into the back of the net.

After the break, Rosella Ayane’s angled strike had to be tipped over the bar by Chelsea keeper Zećira Mušović.

Cuthbert smacked a 20-yard shot off the post, then played in Kerr who finished but was given offside, with Chelsea having to settle for a narrow win.

Emma Hayes’ side now lead Arsenal by four points in the title race but with the Gunners having a game in hand,
