The much anticipated meeting of the two Barnsleys produced an intriguing and closely fought affair with the hosts winning thanks to a long range strike by Charley Evans. BWFC keeper Serena ‘Bean’ Clarke made two excellent saves to deny former teammate Ruby Jex-Oldfield, while at the other end home goalie Becky Flaherty produced a fine stop from Misty Russell. BWFC went into the game having had a change of manager since Sunday, with Craig Richardson coming in for Dan O’Hearne.
Stoke stormed through 3-1 at Wolves with three goals in the last quarter after the hosts had Abi Loydon dismissed. Millie Ravening scored twice including a penalty, Delpi Cole with the Potters’ third.
There were three victories for teams against higher division opposition, Sutton Coldfield’s against Sporting Khalsa happened despite a red card, Chloe Finn on target but receiving two late cautions while Phoebe Hopwood got the decider.
Leeds knocked out hosts Halifax after Sarah Danby and Drew Greene netted in the last 10 minutes, QPR eliminated Wimbledon with a Courtnay Ward-Chambers extra-time penalty.
Liverpool Feds narrowly defeated Stockport thanks to Rosie Kinvig’s second-half brace, County pulling a second goal back with seven minutes to play.
Derby and Lewes needed extra time to see off Loughborough and Worthing respectively, the decisive goals coming from the Rams’ Charlotte Steggles and the Rooks’ Olivia Carpenter.
York edged an 11-goal thriller with Norton in which they led 4-3 at the break, Katie Astle completing her hat-trick for her side’s crucial sixth goal, while Bianca Owens treble for the visitors was in vain.
Substitutes Chiara Meola and Laura Mitchell both found the net to seal Real Bedford’s win over MK Dons.
