England Women’s U-19s got their Algarve Cup campaign underway with a 2-1 win against Norway at Stadium Vila Real de Santo Antonio.

Emma Coates’ team took the lead around the hour mark through Lucia Kendall but Norway responded almost immediately through captain Signe Gaupset.

But with just a few minutes remaining, Kendall grabbed her second of the game to secure victory.

The WU19s will be back in action on Monday against the Netherlands (1pm).

Meanwhile, the U-18s played Portugal and went ahead on 41 minutes, when Keira Flannery scored with a low shot from outside the box.

But on the stroke of half time, Portugal equalised through Maria Ferreira and the hosts would go on to score four in the second period, through Daniela Santos, Ana Carolina, Beatriz Nogueira and an own-goal from Katie Reid.
