Belief Is Key For Wolves

All roads leads to Hednesford’s Keys Park for Wolves Women on Sunday, as they kick off the new season in the FA Women’s Premier League against Derby.

Kevin McDonald and Matt Doherty joined Wolves Women keeper and captain Natalie Hall and midfielder Rebecca Green to point the way to what is Wolves’ new matchday home this season.

And Hall is very much looking forward to the season.

“Finishing last season strongly was important,” she said.

“The win against Forest was the turning point, and we learned the lesson that day that, every game we go into, we should go into it believing that we can go and get a result, which is something we need to carry into this season.

“If we can get points on the board early, that would be really helpful, as the last few seasons we have got off to bad starts and it has taken time for us to get going, so an early three points would be great.

“If we can build on last season, rather than having a relegation battle, we can aim higher up.

“The games we were losing last season, can we turn them into wins this season? If we can be more clinical and put more chances away, while being more solid as a team, we stand a very good chance.”

Head Coach Marco Pratt, who works with team manager Trevor Mullings, is looking forward to the season ahead.

He said: “We’ve got a very similar squad to last season, with a few of the younger players coming through and looking good. We’re looking more confident in open play and going forward, we are understanding where we want to play.

“What we want to do is have the players become more comfortable with the ball at their feet, play the game and enjoy it.

“However, it’s not all about the coaches point of view, we’ve taken the feedback of the players, looked at what works and what we are comfortable doing.

“It looks like it’s working because the players look more comfortable and are happy with the way they are playing.”

Kick off on Sunday is 2pm with admission £2.50 or £1.50 concessions. Season tickets priced £18 for adults and £8 concessions are available at home games or by e-mailing [email protected]

Sponsorship opportunities are still available with the Wolves Women players. Contact [email protected] for details.
