Yeovil Off The Mark In WSL 2

Sunday April 17th
FA WSL 2
Watford 1-2 Yeovil Town

Sarah Wiltshire opened the scoring at Berkhamsted FC after 16 minutes, breaking into the box to fire home.

Midway through the second half, Nadia Lawrence had a good chance for Yeovil but shot straight at Hornets’ keeper Gillett.

Watford went close to a leveller as Charlotte Kerr’s teasing cross was only inches away from connecting with Katie Stanley who was unmarked and then Sahara Osborne Ricketts’ free-kick found Chontelle Lawrence but Haynes made the save.

A crucial couple of minutes saw Anneka Nuttall’s deep free-kick led to Lawrence hitting the Glovers’ bar and Kerr firing just over with the follow up before on 78 minutes Wiltshire’s cross was dummied by Annie Heatherson and Nadia Lawrence made no mistake at the back post.

The hosts did finally find the net but it was 2 minutes into stoppage time that Stanley chased a ball down and picked out the far corner.
