Plymouth Argyle Lift Devon Cup Again

With Argyle bottom of the FAWPL Southern Division and Marine Academy top of the South West Premier, the teams could meet in league football next season and certainly began this encounter dramatically for the 300 crowd at Newton Abbot.

With only 5 minutes played, Sam Drewery picked up a loose ball to slot home for the underdogs, only for the Pilgrims to equalise on 11 minutes, with Rebecca Atkins netting from 30 yards.

Drewery was denied a second when her header on 19 minutes was kept out by the spectacular save of Michaela Phillips and then at the other end, Ezme Wells saw Aimie Carpenter tip her effort round the post.

Agyle went in from after 25 minutes as Mollie Taylor found herself free to escape the keeper slot the ball home.

There was no addition to the score for almost an hour, until Danielle Salt rose highest to head home a corner and seal the cup at 3-1.

Argyle’s Kayleigh Brown was declared ‘Player of the Match’.
