Conti Cup Final To Be Held In Manchester

The venue was selected following a new tender process, which was open to all FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Premier League (FA WPL) clubs and aims to reinvest in and reward the women’s game and its clubs.

Tickets will go on sale on Monday 18 July priced £7 for adults and £3 for concessions. A family ticket (two adults and two children) is available at £15 and group booking and Charter Standard discounts apply.

The first round fixtures will take place this weekend, with the quarter finals to be played on 6 and 7 August. The semi-finals will be played on 3 or 4 September.

Last season’s competition was won by Arsenal, who beat Notts County 3-0 with a brace from Jordan Nobbs and a goal from Chioma Ubogagu, at Rotherham United.

FA head of women’s leagues and competitions Katie Brazier said: “For this year’s competition we decided to try a different way of selecting the venue and asked clubs to apply to host the Final.

“We’re committed to developing the women’s game and this is another opportunity to reward our clubs and reinvest in the game.

“We also know that our women’s clubs’ stadiums and staff are experienced in delivering a top-quality matchday experience for supporters of the women’s game.

“The club’s bid also included a number of initiatives, alongside Manchester County FA, which will provide opportunities for young girls to play, helping us work towards our ambitious aim of doubling female participation and we’re sure that Manchester City will be an excellent host for what will be one of the showcase matches of the domestic season.”

Manchester City chief operations officer Omar Berrada said: “We’re delighted that the Academy Stadium has been chosen to host this year’s final. Since the opening of City Football Academy in December 2014 we have had the opportunity to host a number of sporting events and share our great facilities with fans and athletes from around the world.

“Women’s football continues to grow in popularity here in Manchester where we have seen support for our own women’s team increase year on year breaking league records for stadium attendance along the way.

“We look forward to welcoming the two finalists and their fans to the Academy Stadium in October for what is sure to be a fantastic occasion.”
