Belles Sign Florida State Uni Midfielder

Doncaster said that after impressing during a short trial, Marta becomes Emma Coates’ third signing since taking over the role of manager and will add even more quality to the Belles’ midfield.

Originally from England, Marta arrives from Canada via Florida State University (FSU) where she studied before joining Coates’ side.

Whilst at FSU, the midfielder won a National Championship and three ACC Championships as she began her journey to the Belles.

Subject to international clearance, the 23-year-old could be available for Sunday’s Continental Tyres Cup clash with Sunderland.

Excited about her new challenge, Marta said: “It feels unbelievable.

“I am so excited to have found a place where I can start my professional career at the same time as finding a new family away from home that I can do this with.

“I found the staff are very professional and have a lot of depth and experience. The facilities are really great and having, watched a game, I saw that the team played well together and had an abundance of potential.

“But most importantly, the team was extremely welcoming and friendly allowing me to transition well into it.

“Hopefully I can help the team move up the table and earn points every week and go on to fulfil my potential.”
