Two penalties were saved as Celtic drew with SBS Scottish Women’s Premier League leaders Glasgow City.
Wednesday 12 May:
Celtic 0-0 Glasgow City
Forfar Farmington 0-1 Motherwell
Hibernian 1-1 Spartans
Rangers 4-0 Hearts
Janine van Wyk had a first half penalty saved by Celtic’s Logan, Lee Alexander tipped an effort from Rachel Donaldson over the bar.
Chloe Logan saved a close range connection off Zanetta Wyne and when a spot kick was given against Alexander midway through the second period, the keeper caught Sarah Ewens’ penalty.
Jo Love rattled the hosts’ crossbar from 25 yards and a Clare Shine header was bundled off the line by Anna Filbey.
City had Jenna Clark sent off for bringing down Mariah Lee, who would have been through on goal, but couldn’t take advantage in the few minutes remaining.
Rangers regain second place
Rangers went back above Celtic and within four points of the leaders, when defeating Hearts 4-0.
A Zoe Ness goal and Lizzie Arnot brace saw Rangers three up at the break, with Sonia O’Neill later completing the scoring.
All equal in Edinburgh
Spartans stayed three points ahead of Hibernian after a 1-1 tie in an Edinburgh derby.
They took the lead four minutes from half-time, when Sarah Clelland’s cross was finished at the back post by Caley Gibb.
Hibs levelled with ten minutes to go, Leah Eddie flicking the ball home after a free kick.
Gallon gets ‘Well winner
Motherwell got the only goal of the game at Forfar Farmington, to sit two points behind their sixth-placed hosts.
Jade Gallon’s looping header from a Chelsie Watson cross on 20 minutes was the difference between the teams.
Watson later hit the bar but Lauren McGregor had to make a couple of fine saves to maintain the slim advantage.
