Women’s Regional League Round-Up: Oxford City go goal crazy

Several Women’s Regional Leagues continued end of season competitions, which featured a huge scoreline for Oxford City.

EASTERN – Needham net extra point on pens

Group B: Harlow Town put eight goals past East Bergholt United to continue their winning start in the Challenge Cup, Kings Lynn stormed to an 11-1 victory at Wodson Park.

Group C: Bowers & Pitsea beat Royston Town 4-2 for back-to-back wins, Haverhill Rovers’ Semma Halil hit a hat-trick in a 5-2 result at Leigh Ramblers, while also saw them onto six points from two games.

Group D: Needham Market’s Lois Balfour scored in a 1-1 tie at Colney Heath, where the visitors won the shoot-out 5-4. Wymondham Town took the points 2-1 against Luton Town.

EAST MIDLANDS – Posh win goal-fest

Fixtures in the Trevor Clifton Trophy featured a 5-3 away win for Peterborough United at Oadby & Wigston, a 3-3 tie between Coalville Town Ravenettes and Leicester City Ladies, while Loughborough Students edged Notts County 3-2. Other results were; AFC Leicester 1-2 Beaumont Park, Chesterfield 2-2 Rotherham United, Notts County Development 2-0 Arnold Eagles, Oughtibridge WM 7-1 SJR Worksop, Rise Park 1-3 Derby County Academy, Sherwood 0-4 Mansfield Town, Sleaford Town 0-4 Lincoln United.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Dulwich win at the death

Group A: Ashford Town (Middlesex) made it two wins from two in the Spring Round Robin competition, as Ashley Cheatley and Elisa Down bagged a brace each in a 5-3 win at Eastbourne Town. Dulwich Hamlet drew 1-1 with Queens Park Rangers, Lucy Monkman levelling eight minutes into added time, while Saltdean United and Dartford also ended one a-piece.

Group B: Fulham began their ties with a 2-0 result over Clapham United, which put them top.

Group C: Sutton United also made a winning start, with a 3-1 victory at leaders Whyteleafe.

Group D: Crawley Wasps Development and Parkwood Rangers both recorded second wins, the former 3-1 against Hassocks, the latter with the only goal of the game by Holly Webster to see off Newhaven.

Meanwhile in the Capital Intermediate Cup, New London Lionesses eliminated Victoire 3-0.

SOUTHERN – Oxford City’s Jessica Biggerstaff nets nine

Group A: Woodley United have drawn both their Subsidiary Cup games to date, following a 2-2 home draw with Ascot United.

Group B: Oxford City crushed Tilehurst Panthers 21-0, Jessica Biggerstaff top scoring with a triple hat-trick.

Group C: Moneyfields scored all four goals at New Milton, with Sheree Bell-Jack netting twice.

Group D: AFC Bournemouth doubled their points tally when winning 2-0 at Southampton Women’s Reserves.

Next Sunday sees the Subsidiary Cup split into quarter-finals and Plate semi-finals.
