Birmingham City 0-4 Chelsea

Chelsea made a nonsense of Birmingham’s amazing defensive record by tearing into their hosts and hitting four goals in the first 27 minutes.

A fierce low strike by Eni Aluko from outside the box had Chelsea in front early on and it was 2-0 with only 6 minutes played, Karen Carney heaing in Claire Rafferty’s cross from close range.

Carney then fed Gemma Davison to finish with a clinical strike and when Aluko attempted to turn Carney’s cross home, she played in Ji So-Yun, who tucked the ball past the keeper at the second attempt.

Manchester City 2-0 Reading

Man City moved a step closer to the league title with a 2-0 win over Reading.

The first half was goalless despite Jane Ross going close in the first minute and later striking the crossbar.

The hosts almost opened the scoring just after the break as Jill Scott’s header led to a goalmouth scramble and Mary Earps did well to palm the ball to safety.

The deadlock was finally broken 3 minutes after the restart, as Jennifer Beattie rose to meet Toni Duggan’s free-kick, heading into the bottom corner.

The result was finally put beyond doubt with 3 minutes of normal time remaining, as Ross was fouled on the edge of the area and Steph Houghton stepped up to fire into the bottom corner.

Notts County 0-2 Arsenal

Arsenal had goalkeeper Emma Byrne sent off after an hour for taking down Ellen White – who was unable to continue – but went on to win 2-0.

Two minutes into the second half, Asisat Oshoala had rounded Megan Walsh to slot home for the Gunners.

The deadlock was broken in the 69th minute, when Jodie Michalska netted from the edge of six yard box.

Yeovil equalised down to the final 4 minutes, as a cross from Kelly Aldridge was met by a flying header from Lucy Quinn.

Durham 2-1 Oxford United

The Wildcats saw out some late pressure to wrap up a vital 3 points, keeping them in touch with the 2 top three.

Jordan Atkinson won the penalty which Beth Hepple slotted into the bottom corner to give Durham the lead.

Atkinson then scored the second herself as she slid in after Sarah McFadden had seen her shot saved.

Oxford’s Ella Franklin-Fraiture saw her effort blocked on the line by Becky Salicki just before the break but did later pull a goal back with 23 minutes to go.

London Bees 2-1 Aston Villa

London Bees are just a single point short of fifth-placed Aston Villa after defeating them 2-0.

Evie Clarke slotted home from close range on 31 minutes to give the Bees the lead and Jo Wilson doubled the advantage on 70 minutes with a well placed shot into the bottom left corner.

Beth Merrick halved the deficit at the end of normal time but it was too little too late for Villa..

Watford 1-2 Millwall Lionesses
