France’s women’s team have a new coach – former Sochaux boss Olivier Echouafni – after it is understood the French Football Federation ended Philippe Bergeroo’s tenure, yesterday. It comes on the back of a disappointing Olympic showing in Rio, where they were eliminated by Bronze Medal winners Canada.
Echouafni, has signed on a two year deal. Les Bleuettes have already qualified for Euro 2017 Finals but they still have one qualifier left to play against Albania (Tuesday, 20th Sept) although first up they host Brazil in a friendly on Friday (16th Sept) too. He will be gathering and meeting the squad on Tuesday, which also happens to be his 46th birthday.
