Bristol City Women 4-1 Watford Ladies FC
Goals from Claire Emslie, Chloe Arthur and then substitute Lauren Hemp and Hayley Ladd after the break, chalked up a resounding victory for City as they piled the pressure on Yeovil Town in the chase for promotion. Charlotte Kerr chipped in with a consolation goal for Watford but this game was all about City’s firepower.

Arsenal Ladies FC 0-1 Manchester City Women

The Gunners were again left rueing missed chances after an encouraging first 45 was a mere memory by the time Steph Houghton’s free kick was deflected in off the head of Jane Ross to put City ahead on  51 mins. There was no way back for Arsenal against the league’s stingiest defence.
A beaming City coach Nick Cushing declared it his team’s ‘best defensive display all season’. It secures Champions League football for them again next year and they face Chelsea at the City Academy on 25th September, where a win will clinch the title.

Reading FC Women 0-3 Chelsea Ladies FC
Defending champions Chelsea knew a loss at Adams Park and a win for City at Borehamwood would mean their title hopes were over. But Emma Hayes’ side are not ready to roll over, as Reading discovered.
‘The scoreline may flatter us a little but three points is three points and it takes us closer to the Champions League again,’ said Hayes after the game, in which captain Katie Chapman, Gemma Davison and Ana Borges got the second half goals to secure the win.

FA WSL 2
Millwall Lionesses 0-1 Durham Women FC

Beth Hepple’s first half free kick was enough for the Wildcats to secure the three points in London, despite coming under pressure from Millwall as the Lionesses looked to fight back in the second half.

Aston Villa Ladies FC 1-2 Sheffield FC Ladies
A hugely impressive win for Sheffield FC, coming from behind with goals from Jodie Michalska and Sherry McCue to take the three points back to South Yorkshire. Chloe Jones had put Villa in from on 24 mins before Michalska’s leveller just 7 minutes later.

Everton Ladies FC 3-0 Oxford United Women
A dominant performance by Everton ensured they sit two points behind Bristol City but with a game in hand. Ini Umotong went close for Watford in the second half but a Claudia Walker double, either side of a Michelle Hinnigan goal at the back post, made certain of the three points for the Toffees. They’re still in the hunt at the top.

Yeovil Town Ladies FC 2-3 London Bees
Plenty on social media are arguing that this was the result of the day, though few of those will be Glovers fans (of which there were a cracking 811 at Huish Park, give or take a few Bees). Two down at half time, the Bees battled back to a 3-2 win.
