Two groups of exceptionally talented female footballers can follow in the footsteps of previous England internationals after being selected for the 2016/17 teams having showcased their talents at the Marconi Club in Great Baddow. A huge number of players were involved from school years eight to eleven, from whom the squads were assembled. So, congratulations to all that made it into the squads and well done to all that took part.
Both teams will eventually test themselves in the South-East England Schools FA Competition (SEESFA) this season. The County Schools FA run seven representative teams: Boys Under 18s (A and B), Under 16s, Under 15s and Under 14s, as well as the Girls Under 16s and Under 14s. All those sides currently compete in the SEESFA competition against counties including Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Kent, Middlesex, Surrey and Sussex.
Each age group (with the exception of the Boys Under 15s) also compete in the national English Schools Inter-County Trophy. Former England internationals Tony Adams, David Beckham and John Terry are amongst a number of names to have enjoyed a career at the top echelons of the game having represented Essex Schools during their youth. In the female game, London Bees’ Evie Clarke is one of many who have gone on to wear the Three Lions on their shirt.
