What do you do if you’ve been writing about the women’s game for 20 years? You look back over those 20 years and write about them!
It sounds like a nice idea doesn’t it? It’s been great fun reading back issues but it’s also been a pretty mammoth task to put together this special issue. Looking back through it though, it does seem worth it (as the pain of sleepless nights and stressing fades!).
It’s 80 pages, it’s A4, it’s full colour and it’s packed with pics and facts and interviews, some new and some made up of snippers from past issues, over the years.
Who is in it, you may wonder? Well, we’ve worked our way through the 20 years chronologically and woven in interviews with some of (though sadly not ALL – we would have if we could have) the main characters. Debbie Bampton, Gill Coultard, Sue Smith, Marieanne Spacey, Rachel Yankey, Julie Fleeting and Foudy, Kaz Carney, Eni Aluko, the Arsenal Quadruple winners, Vic Akers, Kelly Smith, Jill Scott and Steph Houghton all feature in fresh content, whilst many other great players pop up throughout, as we reflect on the sport through our ‘WSLpurple’ tinted specs.
Here’s a ‘sneak peek’ at 1997/1998!
Subscribers receive their copy FREE, because we love them, and we’re nice like that. You can buy individual copies from our online shop, and if you ask us (and we’re not just saying this ‘cos we put it together), we think it would make an amazing gift for the women’s footballer or women’s football fan in your life. This issue has a limited print run, so we’d suggest you order sooner rather than later, so you don’t miss out:
