Royals Sign Former FA Cup Winner

Reading report that before moving to the north-east, Chaplen – who has represented England at U-19, U-20 and U-23 levels – had spent five years at Everton, where she won the 2010 Women’s FA Cup. Prior to this, Brooke had a season at Chelsea, where she played with current Royals right-back Becky Jane.

Manager Julie Chambers said about her new acquisition: “I have always liked Brooke as a player even back when she was a youngster playing at Portsmouth. Brooke is a really exciting addition to my squad and I’m excited to start working with her. She is a goal-scoring midfield player who definitely adds to my attacking options and fits well into our style of play”.

Chaplen cited the quality of the football, the coaching staff, the facilities, and the potential she believes the club and its players have as the primary reasons for her signing: “The club have transitioned in a positive way, deciding it’s important to go full-time, which is really important in this league. The quality of the facilities you use and the coaching staff and how important the preparation is here, it’s such a plus for players to have this. The quality of the football here and how much potential I think the players here and the club has going forward, was the deciding factor for me”.
