Can You Score In Under Nine Seconds?

David Farrand, Manager of Beechfield United, queries whether anyone has scored a faster goal than that by Debbie Wright, just 9 seconds into a recent league fixture.

Beechfield United play in the Greater Manchester League Division and on Sunday 23rd November 2014, we played an away game against Oldham Athletic LFC at the Chapel Road 3G pitch.

Oldham kicked off the game and passed the ball back, Debbie Wright went to close down the player who then attempted to pass the ball sideways. Debbie intercepted the ball and went towards the goal as Oldham players tried to tackle her but she shot at goal and the ball flew into the bottom left corner.

The referee, William Slinger, timed the goal as just 9 seconds into the match.

Beechfield did not score another goal in the first half, but added four more in the second period, thus keeping them top of the league.

The quickness of the goal has lead me to try and find out if any other ladies teams have scored such fast goals. If so,please contact me on david.farrand@yahoo.co.uk.
