Arsenal Women were beaten 1-0 by Bayern Munich in the Emirates Cup match and had Danielle Carter stretchered off after a lengthy stoppage.

Played in front of a peak attendance of 28,500 at the Emirates Stadium, ahead of the men’s match with Lyon, Katie McCabe hit a dipping effort just over the bar but the only goal arrived on 24 minutes when Melanie Leupolz buried a header from Lina Magull’s free-kick.

Louise Quinn twice went close in quick succession but after the break Jennifer Beattie did well to prevent Bayern doubling their lead.

New Gunners goalie Manuela Zinsberger denied Jovana Damnjanovic with a smart save, while at the other end McCabe saw her effort blocked and Melisa Filis’ volley was caught by Carina Schulter.
