Ashlee Hincks made her Millwall debut on Saturday and afterwards spoke to the Lionesses’ website about her move and her plans for the season in the FA WSL.
Hincks played this past winter season with FA Premier League Southern Division side Gillingham, scoring an impressive 20 goals in 23 games and even though Gillingham will always have a place in her heart, she told us she had to move on.
“It was time, the girls at Gills were great and there are some really great youngsters there but I needed a new challenge and I thought that Millwall would be a good fit for me’
‘I know some of the girls, I’d spoken to Dan [Mlinar] and I really rate his attitude towards football and the team. He has a fantastic vision and playing style for the team he has and also the development of the women’s game at Millwall.’
‘I think Dan can get the best out of people, he is welcoming and genuine, such a hard worker himself so he is definitely someone that you want to work hard for’
Having joined the Lionesses just before the international break, Ashlee said that she doesn’t have any particular aims for the season and is more happy to be picked to play in the strong squad.
‘For me I’m coming into this with a blank slate, I want to see how I fit into the team, and how the team progresses through the next 3 games and after the international break’

‘I was so impressed with everyone of my team mates today, everyone worked really hard and I think that if that’s the standard and we carry on like then those draws will soon turn into wins’
‘Yeovil are going for promotion and they are one of the strongest squads in the league and for us to perform the way we did today we have done ourselves proud – a draw was a fair result’.
Millwall are next in action on Sunday May 17th, when they meet Watford in a 6pm kick-off at the changed venue of Harlow Town FC.
