#SKFANCARD: #ENG v #NOR

Once again you got involved, you gave us your reactions to the historic result and voted on which players you thought stood out from the gutsy team performance….

Thanks for placing your votes on the #SKFANCARD for England’s dramatic, history-making win over Norway. It seems that the match-winning goal may have swayed most of you in your voting (and who can blame you?), as well as identifying the other heroines in the piece…If you receive our Newsletter you will already know this but pretend you don’t know, imagine a drumroll and pin your ears back for the big announcement:

Your @teamsnap Player of the Match v Mexico, was LUCY BRONZE.

Lucy had an important role within the team because she had to thwart any danger from Norway’s most threatening attacking player, Lyon’s left sided Ada Hegerberg. She did that well and also supported the side going forward. She scored a goal as well, I seem to recall. Is that right? 😉

For her efforts, Bronze picked up 42% of your votes, while ‘keeper Karen Bardsley‘s absolutely crucial stops and all round reliability under pressure from aerial balls saw her placed in second with 15%. She only entered the fray partway through the second half but Jill Scott became the latest in a line of England #gamechangers. She was superb in her agression and her control on the ball, her passing and the balance she gave to a midfield that was finishing the game in a seemingly much stronger physical state.

The conditions were very testing for both sides (and Vancouver has a forecast of 27 degrees again for Saturday) and the pressure was massive on both sets of players. We’ve all seen better quality games in terms of entertainment but you won’t have seen many braver turnarounds from a group of players.

Let’s have our usual trawl through some of your comments about the match, with a list of your thoughts on the team’s performance (some of you have a way with words and you’re a passionate, tough but appreciative crowd!):
