France, Germany, Italy and Sweden all won their final friendlies before the FIFA Women’s World Cup which starts next Friday evening.
A late exchange of goals saw Italy confirm victory over Switzerland in Ferrara. Aurora Galli and Cristiana Girelli scored to give the Azzurre a 2-0 lead, Geraldine Reuteler replied on 81 minutes but Daniela Sabatini restored a two-goal cushion a minute from time.
Germany were 2-0 winners over Chile in front of over 10,000 in Regensburg. Alexandra Popp’s goal on 29 minutes added to in first-half stoppage time by Carolin Simon.
Sweden twice hosted South Korea, firstly beating them 4-0 in an unofficial international Falkenburg with goals by Julia Zigiotti Olme, Stina Blackstenius, Mimmi Larsson and Magdalena Eriksson. The second meeting in Gothenburg was goalless until Madelene Janogy won it for the Swedes in stoppage time.
World Cup hosts France saw off China 2-1 in front of over 10,000 in Créteil, after having their opener cancelled out. Valerie Gauvin’s goal brought a 52nd-minute response from Shanshan Wang but Kadidiatou Diani netted the decider before the hour mark.
