David Mills ended his decade long association with Yeovil Town Ladies FC by announcing he is stepping down as Club President, yesterday evening.
David has been with the club for over a decade and took up the honourary post as Club President when he stood down as Chairman at the end of 2014, after a six year stint in that position.
Explaining his decision Mills said, “In preparation for likely life in FAWSL 1, the Board want to make the position of Club President a more active ambassadorial one based on an elected two year term. The role of honourary President was right for me, but I do not have the time for an active role anymore and it would be wrong of me to stand in the way of the Club developing as it wishes.”
Reflecting on his time with the Club, Mills praised the efforts of everyone involve with YTLFC over the years. He said, “Ending my formal connections with the Club now also has a neat symmetry as when I first became associated with Yeovil, the first team were playing in the South West Women’s Football League where the Intermediate team are now.
The phenomenal journey the club has made since, both in terms of on the field success and an unmatched collection of FA Awards, has been all down to the Club’s players, managers, coaches and volunteers at all levels from the first team right through to the youngest youth teams. They should be very proud of what they have achieved”.
Yeovil Town Ladies Chairman, Steve Allinson said, “David’s contribution to our Club will never be forgotten and we owe him and Lorna a huge debt of gratitude for their time and commitment over many years. All of us at the Club wish them both every success and happiness in the future”.
