Thursday’s FAWNL fixtures featured Nottingham Forest sending Stoke City to their first defeat in the Northern Premier and Keynsham Town going top of South West Division 1 with a fifth straight win.

Northern Premier – Forest end Stoke’s unbeaten start
Nottingham Forest sent Stoke City to their first defeat and thereby climbed two places to seventh. They were ahead after only 3 minutes, Helena Costantinou with a 22-yard strike high into the net. City keeper Natalie Hall palmed away Stephanie Lee’s shot but Viktoria Adam was on hand to double the lead. Emily Owen gave the Potters hope with a reply on half-time but Katie Middleton restored the two-goal cushion from Constantinou’s cross on 75 minutes
Middlesbrough were held to a 1-1 home draw by Guiseley Vixens but went level on points with fifth-placed Stoke. Tyler Dodds but Boro one up 2 minutes into the second half but the visitors levelled on 66 minutes with a close-range finish by substitute Ellie Olds.
Southern Premier – Manning seals Gills win
Gillingham claimed their second victory of the season, 2-0 over a QPR side now winless in seven games. Ellie Manning set up Breon Grant to fire home in the 19th minute, Sammy Booker hit a post in the first half but Manning converted a penalty in the last quarter of an hour to seal the points.
South West Division 1 – Keynsham go top
Keynsham Town went top with a fifth win from five and as many goals at Swindon Town, four of whoch came before the break. Justine Lorton bagged a brace and there was a goal each for Kerry Bartlett, Ellie Hillman and Hannah Davies.
Southampton Saints jumped four places to sixth with a 3-0 result over Poole Town. Catherine Browning got a first-minute goals and it was 2-0 after only 15 minutes with a Sabrina Morris-Manislava effort. Browning scored her second of the game in the last 20 minutes.
