In our sixth and final round-up of the 2017/18 County Women’s League honours there are four double-winners; Abingdon United, East Bergholt United, Newhaven and Thackley.

Staffordshire – Shinal pip Potters

Shifnal Town were champions ahead of Stoke City Development, having won 21 of their 24 games and drawn the other three.

The Potters went one better in the cup though, with the only goal in the final against Abbey Hutton United.

Suffolk – Brace of trophies for Bergholt

The top two both drew four times but the difference was that champions East Bergholt United were not beaten, whereas Bacton lost once.

Bergholt were eventually more comfortable in their Cup final success though, substitute Cara Savage with a hat-trick in the 7-1 thrashing of AFC Kesgrave.

Sussex – Newhaven net brace

Newhaven beat all before them in their first season to win the league with maximum points, which was 8 more than second-placed Saltdean United.

The debutants then made it a double by edging Saltdean 3-2 in the League Cup final.

Abingdon United won 17 of 18 matches to take Division 1 by 11 points from Woodstock. They also lifted the League Cup when putting six past Abbey Rangers, who themselves had a perfect 16-game campaign in winning 2 East by 10 points from Holyport.

Buckingham Athletic were unbeaten in winning 2 North by 6 points from Banbury United, Taplow United topped 2 South when finishing 8 points better off than Wantage Town, while Tillehurst Panthers hit Barton Rovers for six in the Plate final.

West Riding – Two trophies for Thackley

Only 2 points went astray as Tingley Athletic topped the Premier by 14 points from Hepworth United – a statistic repeated in the third where Thackley triumphed with Tyersal behind them.

Farsley Celtic Reserves avoided defeat in winning Division 1 ahead of Ossett Town and Middleton Athletic pipped Lower Hopton in the second by a mere point.

The League Cup went to Ripon City with a 2-1 result over Tingley, Hepworth edged Wetherby Athletic on penalties for the Shield and Thackley beat Boroughbridge 6-0 in the Supplementary Cup.

Wiltshire – Trowbridge and Laverstock share honours

Trowbridge Town were champions but only by goal-difference ahead of Laverstock & Ford.

The League Cup was some consolation for Laverstock though, as they recorded a 3-1 victory over Melksham Town.
