Ipswich Safe After East Anglian Derby Win

Ninth-placed Ipswich Town last night won the East Anglian derby 5-1, to make sure of their own safety in FAWPL South East Division 1, while leaving Norwich City in the relegation zone and needing at least seven points from four games to escape danger.

Three-nil up at the interval, Roxanne Small bagged a brace for Ipswich, while Sophie Welton, Joyce Mlambo and Natasha Thomas also got on the scoresheet.

Larkhall Athletic confirmed a top-five finish in the South West following their 3-2 victory over seventh-placed Cheltenham Town.

Bottom of the table Shanklin tonight host Southampton, with the Saints set to go level on points with third in the table Keynsham Town, should the take all three points.

Then on Thursday, the Division’s title could be decided, with Chichester City needing a win from their penultimate match at home to St Nicholas to go out of Plymouth Argyle’s reach.

Top of the table issues too in the Midlands, where leaders Loughborough Foxes are at Radcliffe Olympic, looking to re-assert a four-point advantage over Wolves.

Meanwhile, in Northern Division 1, it’s eighth versus sixth, as Leeds tackle Brighouse Town at the changed venue of Harrogate Town FC.
