Forest And Foxes Win County Cups In East Mids

Radcliffe Olympic play a division below Nottingham Forest in the FA Premier League but gave their semior opponents a tough tie in the Nottinghamshire FA County Cup Final at Basford United FC on Thursday evening.

Radcliffe hit the bar and then forced a save by Aja Aguirre, with the loose ball cleared by cleared by Millie Fugler, Rania Ramadan later smashing the ball onto the post with the keeper well beaten.

Aguirre did save Forest again though when stopping a penalty and Radcliffe put the rebound over the top.

The decisive moment came when Charlotte Broad buried a bullet header from a Lyndsey Harkin corner, as Forest won 1-0.

Loughborough Foxes were 2-1 winners over Leicester City WFC in the Leicestershire Cup Final on Wednesday night. 

Loughborough Foxes just recently missed out on the FAWPL Midlands Division 1 title but did have some consolation in defeating the league’s chanpions of last season – Leicester City WFC – at Holmes Park on 24th May.

Leicester had a goal ruled out for offside after only 5 minutes and then found themselves 1-0 down a quarter of an hour later after conceding possesion in their own half.

Loughborough doubled their a lead a minute before the break, as Charlotte Cooper slid in to turn home a ball across the box.

City set up a tense finale when halving the deficit with six minutes left to play.
