England U-19s kicked off their Euro qualifying campaign by thrashing mini-tournament hosts Kazakhstan 9-0, with Wales later holding on for a goalless draw against Slovenia in the same group.
The Young Lionesses had eight different goalscorers in their Shymkent victory, begun by Grace Smith in the 10th minute.
Taylor Hinds, Anna Filbey and Ella Toone all added one apiece to effectively seal the points before the break.
Not that they let up after that, with three goals coming in a six-minute spell from the hour mark through Esme Morgan, Lois Joel and Jessica Jones.
In the last 10 minutes, Toone netted her second goal and Rebecca Rayner rounded off the scoring, with England registering 39 shots in total and Kazakhstan only one.
Wales were next up against Slovenia at the Namyz Stadium and ground out a point from a 0-0 draw, despite their opponents having many more chances.
Lily Woodham bent in a free-kick which a defender headed high above her own bar, before Lana Golob got round the back of the Welsh defence but could not get on the end of the set piece.
Slovenia had the ball in the net from a header in the dying minutes when goalkeeper Emma Gibbon was caught out of her goal but the referee blew for a foul by Urška Bratuša on Ella Powell.
Saturday brings the Angle-Welsh clash in the second game of the weekend, with a 10am kick off.
The top two in each group, plus the four third-placed teams with the best record against the top two in their section progress to the elite round, drawn in November.
