Arsenal head coach Renee Slegers and midfielder Mariona Caldentey are both nominated for Women’s Super League awards in January.

Mariona is up for goal of the month for her sensational strike against Chelsea, which sealed a 2-0 win.

And Slegers is nominated for manager of the month, with her side unbeaten in the WSL (winning one and drawing one, against Manchester United). Although the award is for WSL achievements, the Gunners did enjoy an exceptional January, making their way through to the fifth round of the Women’s FA Cup, and ultimately winning the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup, albeit with the final in February.

It follows the news that two Arsenal players are nominated for the WSL player of the month award. Goalkeeper Anneke Borbe and club captain Kim Little were both shortlisted for their performances in January.

Voting for the awards is open to the public and closes next week.
