Manchester United women already closing in on two January transfer targets

Manchester United are closing in on two January transfer targets according to head coach Marc Skinner.

With financial troubles at the club, United have been very limited in their funding over the past year and they have struggled to make many big signings.

Manchester United closing in on new signings

Although they have been good this season, it is clear to see that Manchester United are lacking depth.

Much like the mens team, United’s women were restricted with their signings in summer as the club struggled for financial freedom.

As a result of the summer struggle there was games this season where United weren’t even able to name a full bench.

But that could be about to change, as Marc Skinner confirmed that his team is closing in on two signings.

“We are already hopefully close to a couple of players which I think will be exciting,” Skinner said.

“We need to be creative within the parameters but what I’d say is we need to add to the group. I must stress that it is not because of the quality of my players, it’s just the depth to be able to continue the experience, especially with the level of competition. We’ve got Champions League, a tough game against Spurs, Champions League again and then a quarter-final. The level of competition is there.”

United and Skinner have already confirmed they are looking for a new midfielder after learning the news of Celin Bizet’s pregnancy last month.

“The club have been looking into that and they have been for ages, so there’s a plan, there’s a focus. Hopefully, we are close to a couple and if we could bring in more, that’d be nice.” Skinner continued.

What next for Manchester United?

Manchester United have three games in the next week ahead of the winter break.

The Red Devils really must win all three of their matches in what is a make or break period for the club’s season.

Up first for Marc Skinner’s team is a tricky test at home to Tottenham who have been on a roll of late.
