Manchester United Women forward Leah Galton believes there is something special about the team this season, saying the Reds “look different this year.”

The 31-year-old spoke in an interview for the club’s matchday programme for their Women’s Super League clash with Aston Villa.

United have made a bright start to the season and sit third, two points behind leaders Chelsea.

What did Leah Galton say about Manchester United’s start to the season?

Leah Galton says she has noticed a transformation in Manchester United this season.

After spending a spell on the sidelines, Galton returned as a substitute in October’s league match against Everton.

“From watching it, we look different this year,” Galton said. “We look like other teams are scared of us. We’ve missed that a little bit; we haven’t really had that.

Her comments highlight a growing confidence within the squad, one that has been reflected in United’s impressive start to the season.

“Obviously, we’ve always been up there – I’m not saying we haven’t – but I haven’t seen other teams come to Leigh and think: ‘Oh, this is going to be tough for us,'” she added. “We’re up there, we look good.”

Her comments are backed by United head coach Marc Skinner, who said he felt his side were playing “the best football they have ever played”.

Galton, though, has warned United against underestimating Saturday’s opponents, Aston Villa.

She said: Villa are a very well-structured team. Sometimes the table doesn’t show how good they are, because they are actually a very good team.”

Galton eager to contribute more for Red Devils

Following her appearances against Everton and Atletico Madrid, Galton is eager to contribute even more as the season continues. What stands out to her most is the togetherness within the squad.

“All the girls want the same thing – success, to be good,” she told club media. “But it’s like you are fighting for your family. It feels different.”

She believes that the combination of experience, personality, and chemistry is helping United reach new heights.

We’ve had some big personalities and super-easy people to get along with. They’ve also brought experience and something different we’ve not had before,” she said. “Putting that all together is working for us at the minute. I’ve wanted to play more, but it’s been enjoyable to watch.”

A win for Manchester United would put them on 20 points after eight games.

The Red Devils could move to the top of the table on Saturday if they beat Villa and Chelsea lose to Arsenal. Rivals Manchester City though could top the standings this weekend if they then beat Everton on Sunday.
