Tottenham ‘in negotiations with SK Brann’ over the signing of Norway star Signe Gaupset

Tottenham have reportedly entered negotiations with SK Brann over the signing of promising Norway midfielder Signe Gaupset.

Gaupset was one of the breakout stars of Euro 2025 and was a nominee for the Golden Girl award.

Martin Ho is a big fan of Gaupset, having previously coached her at Brann before joining Tottenham this past summer.

Tottenham have already taken great strides under Ho, taking 15 points from their first seven games. This is five fewer than they did in the entirety of last season.

Tottenham could push to sign Gaupset in January with the Norwegian league season ending this month.

Tottenham holds talks over the signing of Signe Gaupset

Norwegian outlet Bergens Tidende report that negotiations are ongoing between Tottenham and SK Brann over Signe Gaupset ahead of the January transfer window.

Gaupset is said to be aware of the move and interested in a move to the Women’s Super League side.

Martin Ho was in attendance at Brann’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester United in the Women’s Champions League in September.

Norway’s Toppserien league ends this month, and Gaupset has reportedly declared her intentions to leave the club in January.

Norwegian outlet Bergensavien claim that Gaupset described a reunion with Ho as ‘absolutely an option’.

The only sticking point for Tottenham is that Gaupset signed a contract extension with Brann until the summer of 2027, back in March.

Who is Signe Gaupset?

Signe Gaupset is a 20-year-old midfielder who is one of Europe’s brightest young prospects.

Gaupset made her national breakthrough during the 2022 Norwegian Women’s Cup final, where she scored a brace for SK Brann in a 3-1 victory over Stabaek.

During the 2023-24 season, Gaupset was described as a ‘sensation’ after starring for Brann in a Champions League tie with Lyon.

She made her Norway debut for British head coach Gemma Grainger in February 2024.

Gaupset was called up to Norway’s Euro 2025 squad, where she netted a brace in their dramatic 4-3 victory over Iceland.

Her performances led to her being nominated for the Golden Girl trophy. Michelle Agyemang, who recently suffered a ruptured ACL, secured the trophy thanks to her excellent performances off the bench for England at Euro 2025.

This season, Gaupset is the third top scorer in Norway with 15 goals for SK Brann.

Gaupset is also highly rated on the new Football Manager 26 game, making SheKicks’ list of wonderkids in FM26.

Could any other players move in the January transfer window?

Tottenham’s London rivals Arsenal are also reportedly trying to sign a young Scandinavian star.

Reports in Sweden have claimed that the Gunners are closing in on the signing of Hammarby right-back Smilia Holmberg.

Holmberg, 19, famously missed the decisive penalty for Sweden during their Euro 2025 defeat to England.
