Newcastle vs Manchester City preview
It has been a difficult start to the season for Newcastle United, with the Magpies winning just one of their six Championship games so far.
The team will be in good spirits still though after managing to rescue a last gasp point in the last minute of each of their last two games.
Lois Joel’s 89th minute equaliser against Bristol City last weekend couldn’t have been left much later and came as a huge relief to Newcastle fans, but a draw felt disappointing considering their already poor start to the season.

In the League Cup Newcastle have lost their only game so far in a 2-1 loss to Nottingham Forest.
Manchester City’s fortunes have been the complete opposite to Newcastle to start the season.
Andrée Jeglertz has guided his new team to an almost-perfect start in the WSL with five wins and just one loss so far. City currently sit second in the table behind only Chelsea who they lost to.
After failing to qualify for the Champions League last year it will feel strange for City to be entering the cup at this phase but they already have three points on the board having beat Everton 3-1 on matchday one.

Newcastle & Manchester City team news
Neither team has any new injury concerns and there is a good chance that the hosts start a similar, if not the same lineup to the one that drew 2-2 against Bristol City.
Beth Lumsden could be given a chance to start up front in place of Emily Murphy this weekend, as the forward impressed off the bench last week.
As they already look to be in a good position in the cup, City could make more changes to give minutes to players who have featured less this season.
Naomi Layzell, Laura Coombs, Sydney Lohmann and Khiara Keating are all in contention to start. Lauren Hemp remains out with an ankle injury.
Predicted lineups
Newcastle: Leifting; Mannion, Cooper, Stokes, Cataldo; Joel, Nobbs, Gautrat, Pike; Sevenius, Lumsden
Manchester City: Keating; Layzell, Rose, Greenwood, Ouahabi; Lohmann, Hasegawa; Coombs, Miedema, Clinton; Shaw
Newcastle vs Manchester City prediction
While Newcastle are desperate for a win to turn their recent form around, this might not be the game they get it.
City are set to make changes to give some of their starters a rest in the cup but the visitors are still well clear of Newcastle, even with their backups.
We are predicting a 3-0 win for Manchester City who can maintain their 100% record in the cup and all but dump the Magpies out of the competition.
Prediction: Newcastle 0-3 Manchester City
