Who is Taylor Hinds? Arsenal star earns first England call-up despite Jamaican ties

Arsenal’s Taylor Hinds has earned a first senior call-up for England

Arsenal’s Taylor Hinds earned her first senior call-up for England this week despite already having ties to the Jamaican national side.

Why has Taylor Hinds played for Jamaica?

Although she earned her first senior call-up to England this week, Taylor Hinds has already represented her nation at the highest level.

Hinds picked up her first international cap in October last year when she decided to play for Jamaica.

The defender played in one friendly for the North American nation. Having not made a competitive appearance for Jamaica, Hinds was eligible to switch back to England.

Hinds was a regular feature in the Lionesses youth setups before playing for Jamaica. The Arsenal star played in the under-17, under-19 and under-23 teams during her youth.

Who is Taylor Hinds?

Taylor Hinds is widely regarded as one of the best fullbacks in the WSL.

The former Liverpool defender moved to London at the beginning of this season on a free transfer, after her contract with the Reds expired.

This isn’t the first time that Hinds has played for Arsenal with the 26-year-old coming through the team’s youth setup.

Although she was officially an Arsenal player, Hinds never made a WSL appearance with the Gunners until she returned this year.

In her seven seasons away from Arsenal Hinds racked up an impressive 155 appearances for Liverpool and Everton, making her one of the most reliable fullbacks in the world.

Hinds is still yet to start for the Gunners on her return to the club, despite being one of the very best in her position.

The defender is in direct competition with Irish superstar Katie McCabe and although she has every chance of challenging for the spot, Renee Slegers has stuck with McCabe for now.

Taylor Hinds earns England call-up

Despite not starting for Arsenal this season, Hinds has been named in Sarina Wiegman’s first England squad since their Euro 2025 success.

Wiegman explained that Hinds is part of a ‘new cycle’ for England as they look forward to the 2027 World Cup.

The Lionesses will face Brazil and Australia in two international friendlies next month, with Hinds in line to make her senior international debut for England.
