After faltering in their Champions League opener, Chelsea have now failed to win a match in two games for the first time in well over a year.
Chelsea drop points in Champions League opener
In a Champions League shock on Wednesday night, Chelsea drew 1-1 with FC Twente in their league phase opener.
The Dutch opposition managed to do what only Manchester United has been able to do this season and take points off the Blues.
Chelsea dominated the stats throughout the game but it was the hosts who took the lead just after the hour mark.
Danique Van Ginkel gave FC Twente the lead with a stunner from the edge of the box with her fourth goal of the season.

It didn’t take Chelsea long to respond as Sandy Baltimore stepped up from the spot to fire home the equaliser.
The Blues finished the game with 65% possession and over double the amount of shots on target than their opposition.
After such a dominant display in the Netherlands, Sonia Bompastor admitted that it was “not a good result at all” in her team’s Champions League opener.
When was the last time Chelsea failed to win two games in a row?
It has been a very long time since Chelsea have gone two games without a win.
The six-time consecutive WSL champions haven’t failed to win in back to back games since May 2024, which is also when they last lost a game.
Chelsea lost 2-0 in the Champions League semi-final second leg against Barcelona at the end of April last year and just days later they fell to Liverpool in the WSL.
Since that date Chelsea have gone unbeaten in all competitions – including a near-record 30 unbeaten in the WSL.

With a 1-1 draw against Manchester United on Sunday, Chelsea are now winless in back to back games for the first time in a year.
Despite back to back draws in all competitions it is hard to imagine Chelsea worrying about their form right now.
What next for Chelsea?
Chelsea are now preparing for their next WSL game which comes against Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.
Spurs have been one of the better teams in the league so far this year and they seem confident on getting a result out of the champions.
The Blues will be desperate to get out of their two game slump this weekend as they look to maintain their lead at the top of the WSL.
As for the Champions League, Chelsea will face Paris FC at home next week in their final game before the first international break of the season.
