When is the next international break in women’s football?

England team family costs Women's Euro 2025

The WSL season is now in full swing but there is already an international break creeping up on women’s football.

When is the next international break?

Europe’s top leagues will break from domestic football for the first time this season later in October.

There is just one weekend of fixtures coming up before the first international break of this season.

After the upcoming matchday 6, Europe will take a break for two weeks as players head off to international duty.

The October international break will take place between the 17th-25th of October.

There is one round of Champions League fixtures that takes place before the break on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Who do England play in the international break?

The Lionesses will play two friendlies during the break as part of their homecoming tour following the Euros success in summer.

See below for full details of when and where Sarina Wiegman’s team will play the friendlies.

  • England v Brazil
  • Women’s International friendly
  • Kick off: 17:30pm BST, Saturday 25 October 2025
  • Etihad Stadium, Manchester

  • England v Australia
  • Women’s International friendly
  • Kick off: 19:00pm GMT, Tuesday 28 October 2025
  • Pride Park, Derby

Both of England’s games will be shown live and free on ITV.

Following their two October friendlies, England will complete the Homecoming Tour with fixtures against Ghana and China at the end of November.

When will the England squad be released?

Sarina Wiegman will release her England squad just before the friendlies.

The 23-player team will be confirmed at 11am on October 14th.

After such a successful summer in Switzerland, the Lioness squad will be very similar to the one that one England’s second European Championship this year.

Having missed out on Euro 2025, Millie Bright confirmed this month that she could be back in contention to play once again.

The Chelsea defender withdrew from selection in summer as she admitted to struggling both mentally and physically in the build-up.
