Arsenal vs Aston Villa preview
After an unstoppable start to the season, Arsenal faltered against Manchester United last weekend.
The Gunners were held to a 0-0 draw away from home and were left disappointed as they fell behind Chelsea at the top of the table for the first time this year.
There was some good news for Arsenal in the past week, as the club was named women’s club of the year at the Ballon d’Or awards in Paris

Although they drew a blank last week, Arsenal beat London City Lionesses and West Ham by three and four goals respectively to start the season and should get back on track against Villa.
Villa’s third game of the campaign was postponed last weekend after the tragic passing of Matt Beard.
In the League Cup Villa suffered a loss during the week, as penalties was required against Tottenham after 90 minutes.
The Clarets have just one point from their other two games this year following a goalless draw against Brighton on opening day. Natalia Arroyo’s side can be excused for their only loss so far which came at the hands of reigning champions Chelsea.
Arsenal vs Aston Villa Team news
There were plenty of Arsenal superstars in attendance at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, with Mariona Caldentey and Alessia Russo finishing second and third in the award.
Both are expected to start for Arsenal over the weekend. Frida Maanum and Beth Mead were both dropped against Manchester United last weekend but after struggling to score a goal they could return to the lineup this week.
Club-record signing Olivia Smith struggled to make an impact against United and could be sacrificed for Maanum or Mead.
Villa have no new injury concerns heading into the weekend and after resting some of their stars in the League Cup on Wednesday night they could name an unchanged lineup from the side that lost to Chelsea.
Predicted lineups
Arsenal: van Domselaar; Fox, Reid, Catley, McCabe; Little, Maanum; Caldentey, Mead, Maanum; Russo.
Aston Villa: Kelly; Wilms, Patten, Deslandes, Grant, Martiz; Kearns, Baijings, Daly, Hanson, Salmon.
