After Matchday 3 of the Women’s Super League, SheKicks gives our latest Team of the Week.

Chelsea are the only side to still have a 100 per cent record in the WSL after their 1-0 victory over Leicester.

Two of their contenders, Manchester United and Arsenal, played out a goalless draw at Leigh Sports Village on Sunday.

Manchester City and Brighton enjoyed comprehensive victories over Tottenham and West Ham respectively.

The London City Lionesses also got their first victory since promotion, holding on to beat Everton 2-1 at Goodison Park.

Liverpool’s match against Aston Villa was postponed following the death of the Reds’ former manager Matt Beard.

Goalkeeper

Janina Leitzig (Leicester)

Leicester goalkeeper Janina Leitzig is the first player in the Women’s Super League Team of the Week, despite being on the wrong end of a defeat on Matchday 3.

The Foxes were expected to be comfortably beaten by defending champions Chelsea at the weekend.

However, the Blues were restricted to just one goal thanks to some brilliant saves by Leitzig. The 26-year-old goalkeeper made seven saves in her best efforts to keep the Foxes in the match.

Defenders

Kerstin Kasparij (Manchester City)

Netherlands international Kerstin Kasparij headed home Manchester City’s third goal in their 5-1 win over Tottenham.

She also made some important defensive contributions, including four recoveries and four tackles.

Caitlin Hayes (Brighton)

The Women’ Super League Team of the Week for Matchday 3 includes five players from Brighton after their 4-1 victory over West Ham.

Caitlin Hayes is the first Seagulls player after heading in their opener against the Hammers.

The Irish international also made six clearances and three ball recoveries in a solid defensive performance.

Katie Reid (Arsenal)

Katie Reid was the Player of the Match as Arsenal and Manchester United played out a goalless draw.

She completed more passes (69) than any other player in the game and also made nine ball recoveries.

The 18-year-old also made a clearance off the line as Arsenal kept their unbeaten start to the season.

Marisa Olislagers (Brighton)

The defence is completed by Brighton left-back Marisa Olislagers who scored an excellent late goal to wrap up their 4-1 victory over West Ham.

Hammers goalkeeper Kinga Szemik could do nothing to stop Osilagers’ clipped effort from the edge of the box.

Midfielders

Maisie Symonds (Brighton)

Brighton midfielder Maisie Symonds was a livewire for the Seagulls during their victory over West Ham.

She showed boundless energy and was nearly rewarded with a goal, when her long-range effort struck the crossbar.

Symonds also showed some excellent vision with her long-range passing and makes the team despite receiving a yellow card.

Fran Kirby (Brighton)

Fran Kirby was another player who produced an excellent performance for Brighton on Sunday.

The former Lioness put in a wicked corner for Hayes to head home Brighton’s opening goal.

The 32-year-old was accurate with her passing and also contributed defensively for the Seagulls.

Yui Hasegawa (Manchester City)

Manchester City midfielder Yui Hasegawa is the only player to keep her place from our Team of the Week for Matchday 2.

Hasegawa, who scored the winning goal last time out against Brighton, was again a constant threat during their victory over Tottenham.

Forwards

Kiko Seike (Brighton)

The place on the right side of the attack is a close contest between Keiko Seike of Brighton and Manchester City’s Aoba Fujino.

However, it is the Brighton star who just gets the nod. Seike linked up well with Michelle Agyemang to score Brighton’s second goal against West Ham.

Seike was unfortunate not to get a second after hitting the woodwork also during the match.

Aggie Beever-Jones (Chelsea)

This is another close call between Aggie Beever-Jones and Khadija Shaw who both scored in victories over the weekend.

However, it is the England international who makes the cut after scoring the match-winner against Leicester.

Beever-Jones completed more dribbles than any other player with five and was a constant threat for the Foxes.

Shaw’s missed penalty counts against her when it comes to the Team of the Week despite finding the back of the net.

Isobel Goodwin (London City Lionesses)

London City Lionesses picked up their first win since their promotion to the top flight and Isobel Goodwin scored both goals during the 2-1 triumph against Everton.

She cannoned her first in off the crossbar before scoring from close range to give the Lionesses a huge victory.
