London City Lionesses vs Manchester United preview
Life in the WSL couldn’t have got off to much worse of a start for the London City Lionesses, who were thrashed by Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Despite the defeat, it is hard to be too disheartened by the result with Arsenal one of the best teams in the WSL.
Not many teams spent as much as the newly-promoted Lionesses this summer and it may still take some time for all the new players to gel together.
Manchester United certainly didn’t struggle in their first outing of the campaign with a convincing home win against Leicester.
Melvine Malard scored two for the Red Devils, with Elisabeth Terland and Ella Toone rounding off a perfect 4-0 win for the team.

United have the added pressure of playing in Champions League qualifiers either side of their WSL clash on Sunday, and with a very thin squad it is unlikely that Marc Skinner will be able to make many changes.
London City Lionesses vs Manchester United team news
The Lionesses could be boosted by the inclusion of new world record signing Grace Geyoro from Paris Saint-Germain against United.
Geyoro cost the newly-promoted side £1.43million this summer and could slot straight into the team.
Manchester United are still very limited for options in their squad after naming just five players on the bench in their season opener against Leicester.
The Red Devils may still be without summer signing Fridolina Rolfo who is still recovering from injury.
Jess Park could make her full WSL debut for United after making the switch across Manchester on deadline day.
Predicted lineups
London City Lionesses: Lete; Kennedy, Kumagai, Linari, Imuran; Perez, Zelem, Fernandez; Goodwin, Parris; Asllani.
Manchester United: Tullis-Joyce; Riviere, Le Tissier, Janssen, Sandberg; Zigiotti, Miyazawa; Toone, Malard, Bizet; Terland
London City Lionesses vs Manchester United prediction
These clubs faced each other twice in the WSL2 during the 2018/19 season and United won both games.
Both teams have improved vastly since then, with the Lionesses finally at the top level of women’s football.
After such a dominant start to their season, we are backing Manchester United to just come out on top.
Prediction: London City Lionesses 1-2 Manchester United
